Balancing Art and Function
I believe that while design can—and should—evoke art, it should not solely rely on an artistic touch, especially in digital products and services that require logical interaction. Although feelings are essential for guiding users toward actions, they shouldn’t be the only mechanism driving the journey. Instead, an effective user interface should be thoughtfully aligned with cognitive functions, ensuring that each interaction supports clear and logical steps.
Design Within Constraints
Digital product design is rarely a free-form process; it’s shaped by real-world factors such as industry standards, target audience expectations, and project budget limitations. Each design must consider these parameters, ensuring that the end result aligns with practical requirements. Design decisions, therefore, must be strategic—fitting within the unique framework of each project without sacrificing functionality.
Purpose-Driven Direction
Every project has a unique goal, and design choices should be purposeful in meeting that goal. The visual direction—whether minimalistic, modern, or otherwise—shouldn’t be chosen solely because it’s trendy. Instead, the direction must serve the project’s purpose. By aligning the style with the intended outcome, I can create designs that not only look good but also fulfill their intended function effectively.
Preserving Familiarity in UI Elements
When designing user interfaces, I believe in keeping essential elements familiar. Users expect certain behaviors from interface components, and disrupting these expectations can cause confusion. While there’s space for subtle innovation, altering the fundamental look or behavior of UI elements should be approached cautiously. Predictability within digital design is key—users should intuitively understand an interface without second-guessing or needing to adjust to an unfamiliar experience.

Interfaces should enable users to focus on their task without pause for unnecessary cognitive effort.
